We’ve all seen it—the endless social media posts about high vibes, manifestation, and good energy. The narrative is always the same: if you want to succeed, be happy, or manifest abundance, you simply need to stay positive and vibe high. But here’s the inconvenient truth: that approach isn’t real. The High Vibes Only Myth ignores the full spectrum of human energy.

The problem with “good vibes only” is that it oversimplifies what it means to harness your energy. True energy isn’t about constant positivity—it’s about connecting to your body, tuning into the somatic signals, and learning to move energy, not suppress it. Harnessing your energy isn’t about forcing yourself to feel good all the time; it’s about aligning with your body’s natural rhythms, which ebb and flow. Here’s the thing no one tells you: energy is not a constant. It fluctuates, it’s fluid, and it comes in waves. If you’re not aware of how to work with these waves, they’ll knock you over. The High Vibes Only Myth suggests that only positive emotions and feel-good experiences are worthy of attention. But what about the tough emotions? The low days? These are moments of energy too.

Trying to outrun these emotions or push them down makes things harder. True energy mastery is not about staying high all the time. It’s about learning to move energy, process it, and let it flow through your body in a way that serves your highest good. Internal Family Systems is a great tool for working with your energy in a grounded way without some of the spiritual bypassing that happens in mainstream manifestation work.

Step 1: Stop Chasing “Good Vibes”—Start Harnessing Your Energy from Within

  • Body Check-In: Take moments throughout your day to check in with your body. Where are you holding tension? Is it in your jaw, shoulders, or stomach? When you notice these areas, breathe deeply into them, and imagine releasing the energy as you exhale.
  • Listen to Your Breath: Your breath is one of the most powerful tools for harnessing your energy. When you feel off, breathe in deeply and slowly. Expand your diaphragm. Deep breathing opens up space for energy to move freely.
  • Feel the Emotions: When you’re feeling low or stuck, don’t force yourself to be positive. Instead, feel the emotions. Where do you feel it in your body? Bringing awareness to this energy will help it flow.

Step 2: Embrace the Highs and Lows of Energy Mastery

Energy isn’t all sunshine and rainbows. Just like the moon has its phases, your energy moves in cycles. Instead of forcing yourself to always be in a high state of energy, it’s more powerful to embrace both sides of the spectrum. Honoring the low days, when your energy feels drained or uninspired, allows for rest, rejuvenation, and recalibration. This isn’t a failure—it’s an essential part of mastering your energy and finding balance.

  • Honor the Low Days: When you’re feeling drained, take time for rest. Use practices like body scans, stretching, or taking a nap to recharge and honor your energy cycle.
  • Move with the Energy: When feeling stuck, release stagnant energy through movement. Dance, walk, or stretch to physically move the energy through your body.
  • Cycle with the Seasons: Your energy is deeply connected to the cycles around you—seasonal changes, moon phases, and personal rhythms. Align your activities, work, and rest with these natural cycles for greater energy flow.

Step 3: Let Go of Control and Master Energy Flow for Manifestation

Manifestation isn’t about thinking positive thoughts and forcing outcomes. The real key to manifesting is letting go of control and trusting the natural flow of energy. When you try to control everything, you block the energy’s natural flow.

  • Release Control Through Breathwork: Focus on the out-breath as a way to release control. Each time you exhale, visualize releasing your need for control, opening up space for energy to manifest.
  • Intuitive Movement: Trust your body to guide you. Move with intuition—whether resting, stretching, or dancing—without overthinking. This allows your energy to flow freely and leads to alignment with your highest desires.
